The Palo Pinto Hill area of Texas is quite impressive, particularly when the spring rains bring a lushness to the otherwise rugged Texas terrain. They rise like tiny lost mountains, embedded far from the hustle and bustle of modern-day civilization. But hark - Interstate 20 is thumping in the distance, a crowded vein that leads into the big city of Fort Worth, Texas.
It's a shame that land this pristine and beautiful has not been set aside as a natural area for all to enjoy. This area would have made an impressive State Park. There are homes threaded throughout the Hills - some impressive as they overlook Palo Pinto Lake and others in need of a grave overhaul.
We did encounter another photographer amid our journey, but he looked a bit like us - totally lost, surrounded by beauty yet only a couple of spots where a vehicle could pull over to grab a half-way decent photo.
